Woman Owned, Family Run Cleaning for Dayton’s Newest Homes
Dayton has changed faster than almost any city in Minnesota. In 2020 there were about 7,400 people here. Today there are roughly 12,400, and homes are still going up in Brayburn Trails, Sundance Greens and RiverWalk.
If you are one of those homeowners, you know the part nobody warns you about. A brand new house is not a clean house. There is drywall dust in places you did not know existed, the neighborhood down the street is still a job site, and your home is bigger than the last.
MJM Cleaning Services handles it. We are a woman owned, family run cleaning company serving Dayton, Minnesota (zip codes 55327 and 55369) in Hennepin County, plus Rogers, Champlin, Maple Grove and Otsego.
MJM was founded by Tania Gordon and remains a woman owned, family owned, locally operated business. When something needs fixing, you talk to the owner.

Dayton homes run larger than the metro average, so pricing starts with square footage.
Recurring cleaning, per visit:
| Home size | Weekly | Biweekly | Monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 2,000 sq ft | $150 to $200 | $170 to $230 | $200 to $265 |
| 2,000 to 2,800 sq ft | $180 to $240 | $205 to $275 | $240 to $320 |
| 2,800 to 3,600 sq ft | $215 to $290 | $250 to $335 | $290 to $395 |
| 3,600 to 4,500+ sq ft | $265 to $355 | $305 to $415 | $355 to $480 |
Deep cleaning and first time cleans: roughly 1.5 to 2 times a standard visit. Most Dayton homes land between $325 and $700.
Move in cleaning on new construction: typically $350 to $750, depending on size and how thorough the builder clean was.
Post construction cleaning: generally $0.35 to $0.75 per square foot, quoted after we review scope.
The first clean costs more because we are establishing a baseline rather than maintaining one. Frequency lowers the per visit price. See our 2026 pricing breakdown.
1. Tell us about your home. Square footage, bedrooms, bathrooms, pets, and anything you especially care about.
2. We give you a real number. No in home sales pitch. If your home has unusual conditions, we say so upfront rather than adjusting the invoice later.
3. We clean. Top to bottom, room by room, everything supplied. Most clients leave a garage code and go about their day.
4. You tell us how we did. If anything is off, tell us within 24 hours and we fix it free.
Dayton’s median home was built in 2011. In Plymouth it is 1988, and in much of the metro older still. That difference changes what actually needs cleaning.
An older home has decades of accumulation: grease layered into original cabinetry, grout that has absorbed years of soap scum, ductwork carrying a long history. Dayton homes do not have that. What they have is construction residue, which behaves differently.
Drywall dust is extraordinarily fine, and a builder’s final clean is designed to look right during your walkthrough, not to be a detail clean. What routinely gets left behind:
This is why so many Dayton homeowners tell us the same thing: we have dusted four times and it keeps coming back. It is not your dusting. It is the system clearing what was left in it.
Then there is the neighborhood. In Brayburn Trails, Sundance Greens and RiverWalk, families live in finished homes surrounded by active construction. Site dust travels on wind and vehicles. If you moved in while nearby lots were being graded, you get a continuous dust load finished suburbs never deal with.
New finishes need different care. Grout in a recent build is either newly sealed or waiting to be, and acidic cleaners degrade sealant. Luxury vinyl plank, nearly universal here, does not want the same products as hardwood. Using the wrong product on a finish still under warranty is an expensive mistake, which is one reason we bring our own supplies.
Winter, November through April: Ice melt is alkaline and does not simply wipe away. Ordinary mopping spreads the residue while it dulls your floor finish, so it needs neutralizing rather than rinsing. Dayton’s big garages and mudrooms concentrate it right where new flooring shows it first.
Forced air heating also drives indoor humidity down to roughly 15% to 25%. Newer homes are sealed tightly, great for energy bills and less great for air exchange. Fine particulate stays airborne longer and resettles everywhere, which is why winter dusting feels pointless. It is not you.
Spring, March through May: Snowmelt raises moisture along the Mississippi and Crow river corridors, and furnace filters installed in October are at capacity. This is our busiest deep cleaning stretch, and homeowners who call in February get the dates they want.
Summer and fall: Living next to Elm Creek Park Reserve, roughly 4,900 acres of woodland and prairie, means a heavier pollen load than a typical suburb. River humidity matters too: walkout basements carry more moisture than upper floors, and that is where mildew appears first. Come fall, holiday deep cleans book out early, with Thanksgiving slots filling by early November.
We use eco friendly, non toxic products by default rather than as an upgrade. In Dayton that matters twice over.
It matters because of who lives here. This is a young family city, and the people closest to the floor are crawling babies and dogs that groom themselves after walking across it.
It matters because of the homes. New finishes, fresh grout, LVP and quartz respond badly to harsh chemistry, and much of it is still under warranty. If anyone has asthma or chemical sensitivity, we go fragrance free. More on why we use non toxic products.

Usually yes. A builder’s final clean is presentation focused. Fine drywall dust remains in ductwork, window tracks and cabinet interiors, resurfacing for months as the HVAC cycles. A move in clean removes it once.
A regular clean maintains what is already clean. A deep clean resets everything: behind appliances, inside cabinets, grout, baseboards, vents and ceiling fans. Most clients start with a deep clean, then switch to recurring.
Yes. We use eco friendly, non toxic products by default, which matters for young families and for finishes like LVP, quartz and sealed grout.
