MJM Cleaning Services provides kitchen cleaning for Wayzata homeowners who want the kitchen cleaned in detail, whether that means a routine reset, a deeper clean of built-up grease and residue, or the kitchen as the priority area of a larger visit.
The scope is built around your kitchen, including its condition, its surfaces and the appliances you want attended to, so the work matches what the room needs rather than a generic package. MJM confirms the scope with you before the appointment.

Kitchens do not get dirty evenly. A kitchen used for daily cooking collects grease on the cabinets nearest the stove, crumbs along appliance edges and a film on the backsplash, while a lightly used kitchen may mostly need its surfaces and floors done. MJM personalizes cleaning plans around the property, its condition and your priorities, and works from detailed cleaning checklists, so the plan starts with what you tell MJM about the room.
Three answers shape the scope: whether the kitchen needs upkeep or a deeper clean of accumulated buildup, which appliance and cabinet interiors you want included, and whether the kitchen is the whole job or the priority within a larger visit. Share those in your quote request and the rest follows.
MJM confirms the checklist for each kitchen in your quote. The areas below show what kitchen cleaning typically covers and where the details are.
Counters and backsplash are cleaned according to their material, including the line where the backsplash meets the counter, where residue collects.
The basin, fixtures and the area around the faucet base, where water spots and buildup gather.
Cooktop surfaces and the area around them. Burner grates, drip pans and knobs are detail items worth naming in your request.
The outsides of the refrigerator, dishwasher, oven and microwave, including handles and the fingerprints and splatter that collect on them.
Fronts and handles, and the zone around the stove where grease lands first.
Crumbs and soil are vacuumed (MJM’s toolkit includes a Miele HEPA vacuum) and floors are cleaned according to the floor type, with Bona used for suitable flooring.
The inside of the oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and cabinets are scoped separately and covered below.
Standard kitchen cleaning keeps a kitchen that is already maintained in order. Deep kitchen cleaning deals with accumulated buildup and detail areas. Cleaning inside appliances and cabinets is a separate decision again, because each interior adds time and depends on being emptied first. Which tasks fall under which level is confirmed in your quote.
| Standard kitchen cleaning | Deep kitchen cleaning | Interiors (scoped separately) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Upkeep of accessible surfaces | Accumulated buildup and detail areas | Cleaning inside appliances and cabinets |
| Typical focus | Counters, sink, cooktop, appliance exteriors, cabinet fronts, floors | Heavy grease, sticky cabinets, backsplash buildup, tops of cabinets, edges around appliances, grout | Oven and racks, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, cabinets, drawers |
| A good fit when | The kitchen is cleaned regularly | It has not been detail-cleaned in a long time, or before guests or a sale | You want specific interiors cleaned and can empty them first |
If the buildup extends past the kitchen into the rest of the home, see the whole-home comparison further down.
Cooking releases fine droplets of oil into the air, and they settle on cabinet fronts, handles, the tops of cabinets, the backsplash and nearby walls. Dust sticks to that thin oily layer, and over time it becomes a tacky film that a quick wipe tends to smear around rather than remove. The cabinets closest to the stove and the area around handles are usually the worst, and the tops of cabinets can go years without anyone looking at them.
Removing the film depends on the finish. Painted cabinets, finished wood, laminate and thermofoil do not respond to the same products, and aggressive scrubbing can dull or strip a finish. MJM selects the product according to the surface, for example Dawn or a professional degreaser on suitable surfaces and Murphy Oil Soap only on surfaces it suits. Fresh or moderate buildup often comes off well. Old, baked-on grease may only lighten, and no cleaning can promise that years of grease will come off without any effect on the finish.
Cleaning the outside of an appliance and cleaning the inside are different jobs, so each is described separately.
Baked-on residue on the oven floor, walls, door glass and racks takes time and a purpose-made oven cleaner, which is why oven interiors are scoped as their own item. Ask for it by name and say whether you want the racks included.
Shelves, drawers, walls and door seals. This is easiest with the food out, and MJM confirms the process when you request it, including who removes the food and whether shelves and drawers are taken out. Mention the freezer, and any heavy ice buildup, separately.
Splatter and stuck-on residue inside the cavity, ceiling and turntable.
Door edges, gasket areas and the filter, if you want them included.
Counter appliances are usually handled on the outside. Mention any that need an interior clean.
None of these is assumed. Name the ones you want, and MJM confirms whether they are in your scope and how they affect the price.
MJM selects cleaning products according to the surface and the cleaning requirement rather than treating every kitchen surface the same, using a combination of professional products and eco-friendly options where appropriate. A few examples show what that looks like in practice.
If a surface is delicate, unfinished or unusual, such as butcher block or a specific type of stone, tell MJM in your request. Manufacturer care instructions come first.
Cleaning removes dirt, grease and germs from a surface using soap, water and scrubbing. Sanitizing and disinfecting are separate steps that use labeled products to reduce or kill the germs that remain. According to the CDC, cleaning alone removes most germs in typical household situations, and disinfecting is mainly needed when someone is sick or at higher risk.
This page describes kitchen cleaning, and MJM does not promise a germ-free result. If you have a specific reason to want a labeled disinfecting step, mention it in your quote request. Any disinfectant should be used according to its label, particularly on surfaces where food is prepared.
Cleaning removes buildup. It does not repair damage. Scratched stainless steel, permanent discoloration, burn or heat damage, a worn cabinet finish, peeling paint, etched natural stone, damaged grout, cracked surfaces and permanent stains may look better after cleaning, but they may not return to their original condition.
Sometimes a worn finish also looks different once a film of grease is gone. Those problems belong to refinishers, stone restorers or repair trades, and cleaning cannot promise to make a surface look new.
You do not need to clean before MJM arrives. Preparation is about access. Clear small items and dishes from the counters so the surfaces can be reached, and set aside valuables and fragile items.
If cabinet interiors are part of your scope, empty the cabinets and drawers to be cleaned. If the refrigerator interior is in scope, plan for the food to be removed in the way MJM confirms with you. Make sure oven racks and any removable parts are accessible, and mention any small appliances that need to be moved or cleaned underneath. Tell MJM about delicate surfaces, past repairs or pets in the home so the plan reflects them.
Choose kitchen cleaning when the kitchen is the problem or the priority: built-up grease, sticky cabinets, appliance interiors, or a kitchen reset before guests. Choose Deep Cleaning in Wayzata when buildup is spread across the home, such as bathrooms, baseboards, windows and several rooms. Choose House Cleaning in Wayzata for ongoing upkeep of the whole home on a schedule.
If a property is changing occupants and you want the kitchen cleaned in an empty home, see Move-In / Move-Out Cleaning. If you are unsure which fits, describe the situation in your quote request and MJM can help match the service.
MJM does not price residential cleaning by the hour. The price of kitchen cleaning depends on the size of the kitchen, its condition, how much grease has built up, the scope of the work, whether oven, refrigerator, microwave or dishwasher interiors are included, whether cabinet interiors are included, and any special requests.
Photos help MJM scope the work accurately. The most reliable way to know the price is to request a quote with your kitchen’s details.

Tania helped me out when my cleaning lady quit right before my daughter and her family came from London for a stay. She came right over, went over what I needed, I hired her and she was there the next day with the cleaning ladies. They were fabulous! The next time they cleaned Tania just sent the two women and they did a perfect job of getting my house spotless and just perfectly cleaned. I am so thankful for Tania, Susan and Maria and want everyone to know how wonderful they are for cleaning a house!Posted on Google![]()

FAQs
Have questions about kitchen cleaning? Find quick answers about what is included, appliance and cabinet interiors, grease, preparation and pricing for homes in Wayzata and nearby areas.
MJM builds the scope around your kitchen, then confirms it in your quote. Kitchen cleaning typically covers countertops, backsplash, sink and faucet, cooktop, appliance exteriors, cabinet and drawer fronts, handles and floors. Oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and cabinet interiors are scoped separately, so name the ones you want when you request a quote.
Standard kitchen cleaning keeps an already maintained kitchen in order, focusing on accessible surfaces such as counters, sink, cooktop, appliance exteriors, cabinet fronts and floors. Deep kitchen cleaning pays more attention to accumulated buildup and detail areas, such as heavy grease, sticky cabinets, backsplash buildup and the tops of cabinets. Interiors are scoped separately in both cases.
You can request kitchen cleaning on its own or as the priority area of a larger visit, and MJM confirms scheduling and pricing for your request. Describe the kitchen’s condition and what you want included. If buildup is spread across the home, Deep Cleaning or House Cleaning may be a better fit, and MJM can help you choose.
Not automatically. Cleaning the inside of an oven or refrigerator is scoped separately from cleaning the outside, because it takes more time and depends on preparation such as emptying the refrigerator. Name the interiors you want in your quote request, and MJM confirms whether they are in scope, including oven racks and the freezer, and how they affect the price.
Often it can improve it, but results depend on how long the grease has built up and on the cabinet finish. Fresh or moderate buildup usually responds well. Old, baked-on grease may only lighten, and fully removing it could risk dulling a painted or finished surface. MJM chooses products by finish and cannot promise that old grease will come off without any effect.
If interiors are in scope, they should be emptied or ready to be emptied. Cabinets and drawers to be cleaned inside should be cleared beforehand, and the refrigerator is easiest with the food removed. MJM confirms how refrigerator interiors are handled, including food removal and whether shelves and drawers come out, when you request the service.
MJM does not price residential cleaning by the hour, and there is no single price for every kitchen. The cost depends on kitchen size, condition, grease buildup, scope, whether appliance and cabinet interiors are included, and special requests. Request a quote with your kitchen’s details and photos for an accurate price.
It depends on the size of the kitchen, its condition and the scope, and MJM does not publish a fixed hour range. A lightly used kitchen needing surfaces and floors takes far less time than one with heavy grease, oven and refrigerator interiors and cabinet interiors. MJM estimates timing once you describe the kitchen, and photos help.
